A rattle that stopped the second the door opened. The fan blade was clipping a ridge of frost, and the frost traced back to a gasket that had lost its grip. Both sorted in one visit; he did arrive late.
The unit is buried in a run of cabinetry, so even reaching it was awkward work. The lower zone never got cold air — the circulation fan had failed. Part had to be ordered, so two trips. Steady since.
Column sat warm and the compressor never cycled off, day or night. He put gauges on it and found the condenser fan was not spinning up at all. New fan, cycling properly by that evening.
